In 2024, Builín Blasta reported a notable reduction in waste output, decreasing from 0.04 kg per unit of output in 2023 to 0.0303 kg per unit of output. This performance exceeded the milestone target by 24%, reflecting the company’s commitment to improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

To support this achievement and maintain waste levels below the target threshold, Builín Blasta has outlined two key initiatives. The first involves replacing single-use paper towels with a reusable towel roller system, aimed at reducing disposable waste in production areas. The second initiative is the planned installation of a cardboard shredder, which will allow the company to repurpose packaging waste for internal use or recycling. While both initiatives are still in progress, they represent practical steps toward long-term waste reduction.

Beyond operational waste, Builín Blasta is also addressing food waste through an innovative new product development initiative. The company is exploring ways to repurpose food waste into a value-added product, turning potential loss into opportunity. This approach not only supports waste minimisation but also aligns with circular economy principles, adding commercial and environmental value.
