In 2024, Loughnane’s advanced its supplier certification strategy, increasing the proportion of key suppliers holding sustainability certifications from 90% in 2023 to 94.7%, surpassing its milestone target of 75%. To support this progress, the company implemented several initiatives, including annual communications to update environmental and sustainability credentials, supplier audits, and the development of a sustainable procurement policy. These actions have strengthened supplier relationships and encouraged the adoption of certifications such as ISO 14001.

New suppliers are onboarded through a structured approval process that includes a detailed questionnaire covering sustainability policies, environmental practices, and

certification status. Where suppliers are not yet accredited, Loughnane’s encourages them to develop and adopt sustainability and environmental policies.

Existing suppliers are reviewed on a risk-assessed basis, ranging from one to three years depending on their profile. Sustainability is a standing agenda item during supplier reviews, where performance across environmental, quality, and operational criteria is assessed. This ensures that sustainability remains a core focus in supplier management and decision-making.

All suppliers used by Loughnane’s comply with local regulations and hold BRC accreditation, supporting high standards of food safety and quality. In addition, the production manager conducts audits on key suppliers to verify compliance.
