Kinnegar Brewing has made significant progress in reducing its packaging-related environmental impact, in 2024, surpassing its projected sustainability targets. The company has successfully decreased plastic wrap intensity from 0.067 kg/HL in 2023 to 0.043 kg/HL in 2024, far exceeding its milestone. This achievement is largely attributed to a breakthrough in packaging innovation in 2024, enabling Kinnegar Brewing to transition to a thinner plastic wrap, significantly reducing material usage without compromising product security and efficiency.

Beyond plastic reduction, Kinnegar Brewing has made substantial strides in minimising single-use plastic keg consumption. In 2023, the company used 2,396 single-use plastic kegs, but by 2024, this number had dropped to 1,250, outperforming its milestone target by 40%. The company has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by prioritising the use of reusable steel kegs, which offer a durable and environmentally responsible alternative to disposable plastic kegs. This shift not only reduces plastic waste but also strengthens operational efficiency by extending the lifecycle of key packaging materials.

A key initiative completed in 2024 was the transition to steel kegs for specific markets.  The initiative reflects the company’s proactive approach to reducing reliance on single-use packaging while ensuring product integrity and supply chain resilience.
